Avalanche Lab emerged from the necessity of efficiently inputting and disseminating snow and avalanche information from remote locations. Leveraging advanced iPhone capabilities, Avalanche Lab offers a suite of functionalities tailored for professionals in the avalanche field. The user-friendly design makes it accessible to backcountry enthusiasts, including skiers and snowboarders.

Equipped with a clinometer, GPS, and compass support, Avalanche Lab facilitates precise measurement and annotation of field sites. Its offline functionality eliminates the reliance on wifi or cellular connectivity. The interface favors multiple-choice inputs to reduce typing requirements and features large buttons for ease of use in cold conditions.

Producing detailed snow pit diagrams in industry-standard and mobile-friendly formats, Avalanche Lab saves diagrams as images or PDFs. Additional export options encompass KML maps of avalanches, CAAML XML, and SnowPilot formats. Notably, Avalanche Lab seamlessly integrates CAAML v5 snow profiles for seamless data transfer across different software applications.
